Freezing rain warning issued in Northern BC

Northern BC commuters heading from Prince George to the Peace River region today can expect a lot of icy roads.

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for communities along Highway 97, including Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John.

According to the service, a Pacific warm front is currently heading east over the Rocky Mountains and into the north, which is set to bring freezing rain mixed with regular rainfall, causing roads to be slippery.

Temperatures could rise to above zero degrees, and snow is also expected for the Peace in the coming days.

Drivers are being asked to make sure winter tires are on your vehicle and to adjust their habits to the changing road conditions.

This includes all highways, parking lots, and rural roads.
