Aquatic Centre turns 20 years old

One of the city’s most popular facilities is all grown up.

The Prince George Aquatic Centre is celebrating its 20th birthday this month with a free pool party that includes games, prizes, music, balloons, and cake.

The centre first opened its doors on Dec.18, 1998 after residents voted in favour of borrowing money to build a second aquatics centre, in addition to the Four Seasons Leisure Pool.

The facility has since seen more than five million visits, the city estimates that 275,000 people visit the city every year.

Residents are invited to a free pool party on Sunday, December 16 from 1:30pm to 4:30pm to help celebrate the anniversary
