WORLD CUP BIATHLON:
Sarah Beaudry of Prince George finished 38th out of 60 in the women’s BMW World Cup biathlon 10 km Pursuit competition Saturday in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
She was the second of three Canadians in the field.
On Friday, Beaudry placed 12th out of 96 racers in the 7.5 km sprint.
It was the best-ever result for the 24-year-old Beaudry on the World Cup circuit.
Megan Tandy of Prince George was 81st.

Prince George Spruce Kings 3 Surrey Eagles 0 (Friday)
Logan Neaton made just 15 saves for the shutout.
Prince George fired 44 shots on Eagles goalie Cayden Bailey before 565 fans in Surrey.
Chong Min Lee scored the winner in the second period while Ben Brar and Jason Chu added insurance goals in the third.
The Spruce Kings leading scorer Dustin Manz picked up two assists.
Manz is 11th in the BCHL scoring race with 43 points (21 goals) in 37 games.
The 25-9-1-2 Spruce Kings enter their Christmas break in first place in the Mainland Division by three points over the (25-11) Chilliwack Chiefs.
The Chiefs make up their game in hand on Saturday when they host the Coquitlam Express.
The Spruce Kings play seven of their first eight games in January on the road starting in Merritt on the 4th.
They entertain Cowichan Valley on Jan. 11th in their next home game.
WHL: (PG COUGARS)
The Prince George Cougars will end their Christmas break when they visit the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday.
They also will play in Everett on Saturday and in Kamloops on Sunday the 30th in their final games in 2018.
The 11-19-1-2 Cougars are last in the Western Conference, a point behind (11-16-4) Seattle and two points back of (12-16-2-1) Kamloops for the second and final wild-card spot.
Both the Thunderbirds and Blazers have two games in hand on the Cats.
The Cougars have lost five in a row, seven straight road games and nine of their last 10 overall.
P.G. will play its next home game Jan. 11 against Kelowna.
CARIBOO COUGARS:
The Cariboo Cougars compete at the Mac’s international midget hockey tournament in Calgary.
They play four robin games starting on Wednesday at 9 a.m. (PT) against the Calgary Flames.
Cariboo will also face the Brampton 45’s (Ontario) Friday morning at 10:45, Lethbridge Hurricanes Dec 29th at 8 a.m. and Swift Current Legionnaires Dec. 30th at 1:30 p.m.
The 16-5-3 Major Midget Cougars are in second place in the BCMML, five points behind the (19-3-1-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.
Cariboo will play its next league game January 19th in Fort St. James against the third-place (14-5-3-2) Vancouver NE Chiefs.
HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY:
The College Heights Cougars beat the PGSS Polars 4-3 in the 16th annual Prince George Spirit of Hockey high school game at CN Centre.
The fund-raising event between the two schools takes place the last Friday prior to the Christmas break.
WORLD JUNIORS:
Canada’s world junior hockey team will play its final pre-tournament game today in Vancouver against Finland.
The Canadian team won its first two exhibitions: 5-3 over Switzerland and 6-1 over Slovakia.
The world junior tournament opens Wednesday with Canada (defending champions) against Denmark.

NBA:

The 25-10 Raptors lead the Eastern Conference by 1 1/2 games over Milwaukee, 2 1/2 over Philadelphia and by 3 over Indiana.
Toronto will play its next game Wednesday in Miami against the (15-16) Heat.
UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:
Canada West basketball regular season games will resume in 2019.
The UNBC Timberwolves host the Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Wolfpack of Kamloops January 4th and 5th at the Northern Sport Centre.
The Timberwolves are 6-4 in both divisions.
The UNBC women are tied for seventh while the men are eighth out of 17 teams.
The TRU women are 3-7 while the TRU men have a 4-6 record.
