Environment Canada ends winter storm watch

The first winter storm of 2015 is on its way to Prince George.

Environment Canada’s “Warning Preparedness Meteorologist” Lisa Coldwells says the precipitation will start falling on Sunday.

“This is caused by a fresh surge of Arctic air coming down from the north,” she says. “Temperatures are definitely going to get colder, once again.”

“Overtop of that, a moisture-laden storm is going to move in and is going to bring snow,” Coldwells explains.

Environment Canada says temperatures will fall down to as far as minus 29 with the wind chill by Saturday, which can lead to a risk of frostbite.
