Quarmby excited about the opening of Birch and Boar

After spending a couple of years down at the Prince George Farmers’ Market, Birch and Board Charcuterie and Provisions now has there own storefront.

They opened the doors at their George Street location about a week ago and the new local butchery is excited for what’s ahead.

Co-founder, Brian Quarmby tells My PG Now that setting up a business like this has been a goal for his for almost a decade.

“I have been working at this for probably the last nine years ever since I started cooking. It’s been kind of my dream to open up a small little butcher shop as I worked at one in Victoria and then another one in Italy so it’s really mine and my partner’s passion.”

He adds they’re happy to be in a spot that’s near a lot of other local businesses.

“We’ve done a lot of work on 3rd Avenue and we’re just kind of expanding that to George Street. George Street has some great businesses as we’ve got CrossRoads, Ritual and North City Donair – there’s a lot of cool stuff happening downtown.”

Some of Quarmby’s co-founders include Eoin Foley and Garrett Fedorkiw who also operate Betulla Burning and Nancy O’s.

Birch and Boar can be found at 547 George Street, across the street from CrossRoads.
