Northern Health issues drug advisory for Prince George

Northern Health issued a drug advisory for Prince George for a light purple pebble-like substance.

UHNBC placed on restricted access in order to treat gun shot victim

The health authority made the decision in consultation with the Prince George RCMP to allow the treatment of a gunshot wound. It has been confirmed to MyPGNow.com the victim was a man in his 20’s.

Prince George tallies nine illicit drug deaths in May and June

Province-wide, 292 people lost their lives due to toxic drugs in May and June – that equates to nearly five deaths per day on average. So far this year, Northern Health has tallied 67 toxic drug deaths, 23 of which were recorded in Prince George.

UHNBC says obstetrical service coverage gaps for high-risk pregnancies likely to come in August

The health authority noted residents who are pregnant and greater than 20 weeks into their pregnancy, are eligible for medical services at the Labour and Delivery Department at UHNBC. 

Nine drowning deaths occurred in Northern Health in 2024: Coroners Service

The document states 98 drowning deaths occurred province-wide in 2024, a decline of 18% when compared to 2023.  In total, our health authority tallied nine fatalities from accidental drowning last year. 

Some Northern Interior Health Unit services moving next year

Northern Health's Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU) will be making a move in spring 2026.  According to Northern Health, the current NIHU building will be deconstructed after the move to make space for the tower.
