Updates about Northern Health's Chronic Diseases network were shared during it's public board meeting on June 16.

In December, a new Ronald McDonald House Family Room opened at UHNBC, providing families with a place to stay nearby while their children are in hospitals. 

Total funding for the project is being raised through a community donations, the grant, and the Rotary STOMP!—a major fundraising event taking place May 9th at the Prince George Civic Centre.

In May of 2023, a rally was held outside of University Hospital in Prince George after reports of being at 125% capacity. Roughly 60 nurses, students, hospital workers, union members, and other supporters gathered on the corner of 15th Avenue, protesting and raising awareness of the healthcare “crisis” unfolding in Northern Health.

The 42-year-old is accused of punching a nurse in the jaw during a January 2023 incident as well as putting another medical worker in a headlock a month later (February 2023) after pushing a door.

The Ronald McDonald House at UHNBC officially opened at our hospital last week during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The construction of the parkade is one of the first phases in the project that will eventually see a new acute care tower built where the Northern Interior Health Unit building currently sits on Edmonton Street.

Following an investigation, the COS Predator Attack Team determined the bear’s actions were defensive. Due to the location and nature of the incident, no action will be taken against the bears.
