Nachbaur wins the Pat Quinn Award

Don Nachbaur of Prince George is the first recipient of the Pat Quinn Coaching Award.

The Award is presented by the BC Hockey Hall of Fame to an individual, regardless of their level of coaching, that helps and shares excellence by educating players in the sport of hockey.

The 57-year-old Nachbaur has been a head coach in the WHL for 18 years, including the last six seasons with the Spokane Chiefs. He has also coached the Tri-City Americans and Seattle Thunderbirds in addition to one year behind the bench of the AHL’s Binghamton Senators.

“I am truly humbled and honored to be the first recipient of the Pat Quinn Coaching Award,” said Nachbaur, who was born in Kitimat and raised in P.G. “To be mentioned in the same breath as Pat Quinn is quite overwhelming. As a coach, I can only hope to impact people as Pat did in his life. It is with much respect and gratitude to accept this recognition.”
