Grizzlies take bite out of the Spruce Kings

The Prince George Spruce Kings fell to 4-2 on an 8-game home stand following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday.

Tyler Welsh put the visitors on the board with less than 20 seconds left in the opening frame to go up 1-0 after the first period.

In the second, Welsh continued his strong play potting his second of the night slipping it past Prince George goaltender Tavin Grant doubling the Grizzlies advantage at the end of 40 minutes.

The Spruce Kings finally cracked the goose egg late in the third period on the power-play as Tyler Anderson beat Grizzlies net minder Matthew Galajda cutting the deficit in half at 2-1.

Prince George was without 20-year old defenceman Adam Burnett.
