CFL:

The Stampeders erased an 11-point deficit in the final 80 seconds of the game to even their record to 1-1. The Lions slip to a league-worst 0-3.

B.C. will play its next game Saturday at Toronto.

Week three of the CFL season concludes Monday with (0-1) Toronto at (0-2) Saskatchewan (4:00).

NHL:

A major trade in the NHL.

Brett Connolly of Prince George officially becomes an unrestricted free agent on Monday.

The 27-year-old Connolly notched 46 points in 81 games with the Washington Capitals in the 2018-19 season.

 

NBA:

Six-time All-Star Kyrie Irving is expected to sign a four-year, $141 million maximum contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

In another major move, Kemba Walker will finalize a formal agreement for a four-year, $141 million deal with the Boston Celtics.

The NBA’s free-agent negotiating period starts today (3:00 PM PT).

Two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard is expected to meet with both the LA Clippers and LA Lakers but according to reports will give the Toronto Raptors a chance to make the final pitch.

The Raptors are the only team that can offer the 28-year-old Leonard a max contract worth $190 million over five years.

Leonard averaged 30.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 24 playoff games.

The women’s World Cup soccer semifinals have the U.S. against England Tuesday (noon PT) and the Netherlands vs. Sweden Wednesday (noon PT).

Winners play in the final on July 7th.

JUDO:

Tami Goto of the Prince George Judo Club captured a pair of medals at the Canada Cup judo meet in Montreal.

Goto earned silver in her Under-18 48-kilogram class and followed that up with a bronze in the U-21 division.

Koen Heitman of the Hart Judo Academy took a bronze in the U-18 73-kilogram division.

 

MLB:

FASTPITCH:

A total of 19 teams (13 in the men’s division and six in the women’s division) are competing in the 50th annual Canada Day fastpitch tournament at Spruce City Stadium.

Participants are from B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Prince George has two teams in each division: Big Guy Lake Kings, and Custom Edge Sports (men) plus Falcon Contracting Little Chiefs and PG Chaos (women).

Finals are scheduled for tonight (Sunday).

PG SENIOR LACROSSE:

The best-of-three PG Senior Lacrosse semi-finals will take to the floor in July (with all games at 8:00 PM).

(9-7) Northland Nissan Assault will battle the (8-8) Lumberjacks Wednesday in Mackenzie, July 8th at Kin 1 and if needed, July 10th at Kin 1.

(15-1) Westwood Pub Devils will face the (7-9) RPR Mechanical/JR Construction Bandits on Thursday plus July 9th and if necessary, 11th at Kin 1.

Winners meet in the best-of-five final on July 16th, 18th, 22nd and if needed, 24th and 25th.
