Defenceman Brandon Manning of Prince George and forward Sam Gagner have been placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers with the purpose of sending them down to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.

Manning appeared in 39 games and had four points last season with the Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks.
The 29-year-old Manning has played most of his 246 NHL regular-season games with the Philadelphia Flyers.

The NHL regular season begins with four games on Wednesday including Vancouver at Edmonton.
The Canucks placed three players on waivers, including 26-year-old winger Sven Baertschi, who had
14 points (nine goals) over 26 games with the Canucks last season, his fifth in the NHL.
Vancouver also cut defenceman Alex Biega and winger Nikolay Goldobin.
