The Prince George Humane Society will live another day.
Last month the society, a charity that provides a safe haven for abused, neglected, and abandoned animals, was in danger of closing its doors if the board couldn’t come up with the funds to keep running.
The original task was to come up with $30,000 through a Change 4 Change program, but they’ve just announced that $51,000 has been raised through a variety of fundraisers put together by businesses and people in the community.
“We told the community we were in trouble and that we wouldn’t be able to stay open. They’ve been amazing,” said board member Marina Crick.
According to her, that money should keep them open for a couple more months on its own while they develop a long term plan.
“Now we’re looking at a fundraising strategy and volunteers for a board of fundraisers. Whoever is passionate about fundraising and wants to give back to their community, this is an opportunity for them.”
