Timberwolves WSOC swept by Dinos in Calgary

The late season slide from the UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team continued over the Thanksgiving Day long weekend after a pair of road losses to the Calgary Dinos.

On Saturday, the T-Wolves fell 2-0 to the U of C as Montana Leonard and Rachel Barlow scored for the Dinos in the 40th and 53rd minute to seal the victory.

UNBC came back with a little more fight on Sunday, but fell short by a 2-1 score against Calgary.

For the second consecutive game, the Timberwolves fell behind 2-0 after Amy Mikuska and Kelsie MacDonald found the back of the net against Madi Doyle before halftime.

Sofia Jones responded in the 55th minute but the Timberwolves were unable to get the equalizer.

UNBC drops to 3-5-4 heading into the final weekend of the regular season where they visit the Victoria Vikes Friday and the UBC Thunderbirds Saturday.

The T-Wolves are fifth in the Pacific Division and have yet to clinch a playoff spot.

They remain two points up on the Fraser Valley Cascades and three ahead of the TRU Wolfpack.

Both the Wolfpack and Cascades play each other on Friday.

TRU wraps up the season on Saturday against Trinity Western while Fraser Valley closes against UBCO.

On the men’s side, the Timberwolves (4-6-3) cap off the regular season at home against the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack Saturday and Sunday at 1pm from Masich Place Stadium.

The UNBC men are in last place.
