Kitty snugglers desperately needed

If you’ve got cuddles to give there are some cats that need them.

Alyssa Stauble, spokesperson for the North Cariboo Branch of the BC SPCA, said their feline wards are lacking attention and they’d love some volunteers to come and visit.

“We have a lot of really social cats here right now and they are in desperate need of love and affection. Our staff has been hit really hard with the flu these last couple of days and so we’re trying to do our best to give them the attention they need, but we could sure use some volunteers to help us out with that.”

According to Stauble, some of their cats are social eaters and want to be around people or they won’t eat.

“The shelter is sometimes a really scary place for animals, so if we can show them that are people here that love them and want them to be happy then that’s always a bonus.”

The SPCA is usually open from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, but today (Tuesday) they will be closing at 5:30. Children must be over 12 to volunteer and anyone under 18 needs to come with a parent.

Stauble said volunteers can drop by during open hours or apply for a volunteering position on the SPCA website.
