SD57 shutting down playgrounds in response to Covid-19

Effective immediately, School District 57 is closing all playgrounds to the public until further notice.

Superintendent Anita Richardson stated in a release that “the School District wants to support the efforts of our Provincial Health Officer and the Government to ‘flatten the curve.’”

However, district fields will remain open to the public, but residents are told to maintain proper social distancing.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Henry, stated late last week that kids mingling together on playgrounds is “not what we need right now” and encouraged the public to practice social distancing when they are outdoors.

SD 57 will be posting signage to inform the public of the closures.
