Relay gold for Dickson & Lapointe

Emily Dickson and Claire Lapointe of Prince George plus Tekarra Banser of West Kelowna teamed to give BC a gold medal in the Canada Winter Games women’s biathlon 3 x 6 km relay at Otway. It’s the fourth medal for Dickson and first for Lapointe. The 17-year-old Dickson, who grew up in Burns Lake, finished her Games competition with two gold, one silver and one bronze.

–In the men’s 3 x 7.5 km biathlon relay, the BC team which included Arthur Roots and Bobby Kreitz of Prince George ended up 4th.

–In long track speed skating in Fort St John, Carolina Hiller of Prince George placed 5th out of 32 in the 3000 metres. The 17-year-old Hiller will bring home three Winter Games silver medals, ending up second in the 1,000 metres, mass start and team pursuit.

–Carolina’s twin brother, Nicolas Hiller, finished 10th out of 31 in the men’s long track 5000 metres.

–The BC ringette team, which included Sydney Irving of Prince George, finished 6th after a 7-0 loss to Alberta.

–BC also came 6th in wheelchair mixed basketball at Duchess Park. Avril Harris and Joel Ewert of PG were part of the BC team that lost its final game 66-65 to New Brunswick.

–BC earned bronze in men’s curling. BC (skipped by Tyler Tardi of Surrey) whipped Saskatchewan 9-2 in the third place game.

–BC athletes wrapped up alpine ski with four medals in ski cross at Tabor Mountain; female gold and silver plus male silver and bronze.

–BC finished 4th in the men’s short track speed skating 3000 metre relay race at Kin 1.
