PG firefighters extinguish more blazes

Prince George Fire Rescue has been very active putting out 10 fires over the last four weeks, including three in a 24-hour period.

This morning (Friday) just after 1:00, six firefighters from two halls were called to the 1700 Block of the Hart Highway.

Upon arrival, crews found a large pile of used tires and a 45-foot trailer on fire.

Crews extinguished the fire and prevented any extension to an adjacent business, according to Assistant Chief Fred Wilkinson.

Damage to the trailer is estimated at $5000.

There were no injuries to fire personnel.

The fire is under investigation by RCMP.

Last night (Thursday) about 8:30, 19 firefighters from four halls were called to a structure fire in the 2500 block of Oak St.

Crews found an apartment building with heavy smoke and flames coming from a second-story apartment suite.

Firefighters established positive pressure ventilation and initiated an interior attack.

The lone occupant was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.

The fire is under investigation at this time.

Damage is estimated at $ 150,000.

Yesterday (Thursday) morning around 8:30, PG Fire Crews attended a vehicle fire near the College Heights Trailer Park on O’Grady Road.

The estimated damage of the vehicle is roughly 5-thousand dollars.
