Prince George residents are encouraged to take cover later this afternoon, as a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the area.
Environment Canada posted the warning earlier this morning, cautioning locals of potential for strong winds, hail, and heavy rain this afternoon and evening.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops,” the statement reads.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
The warning was issued at 11:52 this morning.
