CUPE 1699 looking to build working relationship with Regional District of Fraser-Fort George

After reaching a tentative Collective Agreement with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, CUPE 1699 is happy to be moving forward.

Members ratified the new five-year agreement on Wednesday, with the Regional District’s Board of Directors completing its ratification yesterday (Thursday).

National Representative for the union, Mitch Guitard said they’re looking forward to strengthening their working relationship.

“It not only helps ease our affordability challenges workers were facing, but it also improves the public services that communities expect from the Regional District, and helps to retain the best employees to provide those services.”

Guitard added that there were some challenges, needing to work through some mediation, but is happy to put it behind them to work towards improvements.

Regional District Chair Lara Beckett said in a statement “We are pleased to have reached an agreement that balances the needs of our valued employees with our responsibility to taxpayers.”

The new agreement is in effect and will last until December 31, 2029.

CUPE 1699 represents approximately 100 workers in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George in communities including Prince George, District of Mackenzie, the Villages of McBride and Valemount, and 7 electoral areas.
