In a nutshell:

NHL:

–The Vancouver Canucks are one of 10 teams left in the running for the Stanley Cup. The Canucks play the St. Louis Blues tonight (Friday) at 6:45 PT. Vancouver leads the best-of-seven conference quarterfinal 3-2. The winner of the series will play the Vegas Golden Knights in the next round.

–The Montreal Canadiens season is on the line this evening (4:00) when they face the Philadelphia Flyers. The Habs, down 3-2, will be without Brendan Gallagher who suffered a broken jaw from a cross-check by
defenceman Matt Niskanen on Wednesday. The NHL has suspended Niskanen for one game.

–The Calgary Flames and the Washington Capitals are done. The Flames blew a 3-0 lead and lost 7-3 to Dallas while the Caps were skunked losing 4-0 to the NY Islanders. The Stars won in six games while the Islanders only needed five games to advance.

–Dallas will play Colorado in the NHL Western Conference semi-final series.

NBA:

–The Toronto Raptors are back on the court today (Friday 10:30 AM PT) against the Brooklyn Nets. The Raptors enjoy a 2-0 series lead. Toronto is 9-1 overall in the Orlando Bubble.

–The LA Lakers whipped the Portland Trail Blazers 111-88 to tie the series 1-1. Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard suffered a dislocated left index finger. X-rays on his finger were negative and Lilliard says he plans on playing in game three on Saturday.

–The Minnesota Timberwolves won the NBA draft lottery, giving them the No. 1 pick. Golden State holds the No. 2 pick followed by Charlotte and Chicago. The delayed draft, originally set for late June, is scheduled for Oct. 16.


MLB:

–The Toronto Blue Jays have won five in a row after a doubleheader sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies: 9-8 and 3-2. The (12-11) Jays visit the (17-9) Tampa Bay Rays tonight (3:40 PT).
