Eight people arrested by police in relation to firearms violence investigation in PG

The Prince George RCMP and the North District Emergency Response Team made a dent into the ongoing investigation of firearms violence in the city during the past week.

Early this morning (Wednesday), officers executed a warrant at a home on the 400-block of South Lyon Street.

Eight adults were arrested inside the residence.

Police also discovered and seized two loaded firearms along with ammunition and a ‘stun’ gun.

Two men aged 21 and 28 were held in custody and will appear in court later today.

“We’re deeply concerned with what has been going on and right from the get-go our people are working hard to try and come to this kind of a result and that has not stopped. We anticipate further action down the road with this recent violence,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass with the PG RCMP.

Both are well known to police and have a history of violence while the other six were released pending further investigation.

Due to the extremely high-risk to safety, police utilized special tactics to secure the residence and arrest all occupants.

The investigation is continuing and further police action is likely.
