Northern BC residents are likely to cry in their beer as Kiwanis Alefest is a no-go for 2021.
Organizers made the decision to cancel today with an eye on bringing back the fundraising event the following year.
Spokesperson, Bailee Toll told MyPGNow.com the current restrictions on large gatherings made it impossible to pull off.
“It doesn’t look like anything is really changing at this point as our event does bring in about 12-hundred people over two days. Unfortunately, that’s not very realistic.”
As you would expect, it was a heart-wrenching decision.
“We have been doing this for quite a few years now and everyone looks forward to this event so we really wish we could put it on but I don’t see a way for us to do this responsibly. We are a charity event as well and we want this to be profitable as well.”
“We are all kind of hoping the same thing that the pandemic is over sooner than later and we can bring back a similar event for 2022 but we are working on a couple of options to do something exciting this year to get people through the year,” added Toll.
The event was slated to start January 29th at Two Rivers Art Gallery.
