Employee at Prince George Sawmill tests positive for COVID-19

A second Canfor facility has reported its first case of COVID-19.

An employee at Prince George Sawmill has tested positive, and is recovering at home, the company says.

“Contact tracing was immediately conducted and cleaning protocols were put in place quickly,” spokesperson Michelle Ward told MyPGNow.

“Canfor’s top priority is ensuring the health and safety of employees. Since the pandemic began, we have implemented COVID-19 protocols to help protect our employees and to be prepared for dealing with any positive cases,” she added.

Four exposed employees are in quarantine as a result.

This comes after a contracted worker at Northwood Pulpmill also tested positive last week.

The individual is also recovering at home and eight people are in isolation after contact tracing.
