Norwood Street house fire now classified as arson by PG RCMP

Prince George Mounties now believe last week’s residential fire on the 2100 block of Norwood Street was an arson.

Just after 7am on Thursday (14th), police assisted fire crews with the blaze.

Once they arrived, the entire structure was on fire but the sole occupant of the residence was able to escape before emergency crews arrived.

“Fire investigators with the Prince George RCMP along with the city took a look at what was there and where the origin of the fire would have been and came to the conclusion that it was not accidental. It was deliberately set,” said Cst. Jennifer Cooper to MyPGNow.com.

Police encourage anyone in the surrounding area to contact them if they witnessed any suspicious activity.

“So, most of us know who belongs in our neighborhood and who doesn’t so if someone was there that you can remember the description of or a vehicle that pulled out quickly just before 7am on Thursday that would kind of narrow down our focus on the investigation,” said Cooper.

The investigation is ongoing.
