Mild Prince George winter continues: Environment Canada

Environment Canada has noticed some slight changes when it comes to winter weather in the northern capital.

Snowfall has been below average but temperatures have been inching upwards, ever so slightly.

Locals may have to break out the shovels, though, as the area recently saw some flurries.

“The past couple of days there was a storm that passed through Prince George,” said Eric Mak at Environment Canada.

“Near the airport there was a reported ten centimeters of snow.”

For the month of February, the normal snowfall is around 28 centimeters — this year it’s at 26.

Mak says temperatures are a little warmer, as well.

“The high is plus two and right now we are hovering around zero degrees with a high of six. It’s maybe a few degrees above.”

Mak says the threat of a winter storm this week has passed.
