Police in Prince George is seeking help from the public to identify a suspect in an auto-theft file.

Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on February 23rd, the RCMP received a report of a taxicab theft
from a residence on the 3600 block of Romanin Place.

According to police, the driver of the taxi started to warm it up and left the keys inside
and left the vehicle running.

Once he returned 15 minutes later, the vehicle was gone.

A short time later, officers located the taxi, parked and unoccupied.

Police obtained surveillance from inside the vehicle and are looking for any information on the suspect.

“Once again, police are reminding the public that it is not safe to leave your running vehicle, with the keys inside, unoccupied for any length of time. It takes mere seconds for thieves to take your vehicle in these circumstances,” states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.
