Spruce Kings blow two-goal lead, fall to Chilliwack in shootout

The Chilliwack Chiefs continue to give the Prince George Spruce Kings fits.

Sasha Teleguine scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Chiefs a 3-2 comeback victory in BCHL action on Sunday.

Zach Gabruch drew first blood for the Spruce Kings beating Chilliwack netminder Mathieu Caron for a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Former Cariboo Cougar John Herrington collected his 3rd goal of the season, deflecting a Colton Cameron point shot for a two-goal lead.

Chilliwack mounted their rally with four minutes remaining in the third courtesy of Trevor Longo who drove to the Spruce Kings crease and tucked the puck under the pad of Aaron Trotter.

Tanner Andrew evened the score on a late power-play after several Spruce Kings converged to one side of the ice, leaving the forward alone in front of the net.

The Chiefs outshot PG 30-24 and went 1-for-5 on the power-play.

With the win, Chilliwack (7-3-0-0) now moves three points ahead of the Spruce Kings (5-3-0-1) for top spot inside the three-team pod, which includes the Merritt Centennials.

PG is back on the ice against the Cents (2-7-0-0) tonight (Monday) at 5pm from the Coliseum.
