2021 Climb for Cancer will take place with revised schedule

While the exact date is still undetermined, the 2021 Climb for Cancer will be happening, just not in April.

It will be the event’s sixth year in Prince George, which raises funds for the Kordyban Lodge, a non-profit that serves as a home for patients at the BC Cancer Centre for the North and their families.

“We want people to be aware that the Planning Committee is working on ensuring the Climb for Cancer happens in 2021, but we haven’t yet set a date as we are watching Provincial guidelines for events closely,” says Doug Bell, Planning Committee Chair.

Last year the climb was spread out over the course of two weekends in August, which ensured participants could remain physically distant from one another.

This year the event will most likely take place in the same manner, as participants will register a time slot to climb the cutbanks over the course of a couple of weekends.

“After last year’s re-imagined event, we had hoped to return to our regular event in April 2021, but it has become clear that we will likely have to hold the Climb for Cancer later in the year in a revised format,” added Bell.

Last year participants raised almost $40,000 for Kordyban Lodge, bringing the total amount raised over the course of the campaign to $207,000.

2019 was a record year for the campaign, as over 500 participants raised $65,000.
