In playoff action, the Washington Capitals edged the Boston Bruins 3-2 in Game One of their best-of-seven quarterfinals series.

Nick Dowd scored the game-winner at 4:41 of the sudden death.

Three more playoff series get underway today.

Pittsburgh Penguins welcome Matthew Barzal and the New York Islanders at 9 am Pacific Time.

Elsewhere, the Vegas Golden Knights drop the puck at home (Noon PT) against the Minnesota Wild, and Jon Cooper’s Tampa Bay Lightning grapple with the Florida Panthers (4:30 Pacific) in a Sunshine State battle.

Preakness Stakes
