UNBC men’s soccer recruit has speed to burn

The UNBC Timberwolves added some European flair to the roster, announcing the commitment of French speedster Loic Benquet.

“UNBC was a very good opportunity for me to play for the Timberwolves. The campus and Steve motivated my choice. I spoke with Steve and we had very good contact. I like his view of things. He sees his team as a family, and I like that. The level of the team is very good, and the team looks fun.”

Benquet is a native of Cestas, a town in the southwest of France, T-Wolves bench boss Steve Simonson suggests his newest TWolf’s tape stood out especially his instincts and athleticism.

“I am very excited to welcome Loic to our squad. Having had several discussions with him and getting to know him better as a player and as a person, I am confident he will be a great fit for our program. He is a truly dynamic left back who brings different experiences to our team. With our current mix, I really think he will be a great asset for us. It’s a good day for UNBC Soccer.”

The 20-year-old will arrive in Prince George next month to join his teammates for training camp.
