WHL:

Mitch Love of Quesnel is the new head coach of the AHL’s Stockton Heat which is the Calgary Flames farm club.

Love spent the last two seasons as head coach of the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.

The Tri-City Americans are looking for a head coach after announcing that Kelly Buchberger will not return for the upcoming season. Don Nachbaur of P.G. may be a candidate since he is the team’s associate coach.

NHL:

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded 37-year-old defenceman Duncan Keith to the Edmonton Oilers for defenceman Caleb Jones and a third-round draft pick.

Keith is a two-time Norris Trophy winner and three-time Stanley Cup champion who has two years left on a 13-year, $72 million contract.

 

MLB

The Major League Baseball 91st All-Star Game will be played tonight at Coors Field in Denver. The Toronto Blue Jays lead all teams with three starters in the All-Star Game: first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., second baseman Marcus Semien and outfielder Teoscar Hernández. The (45-42) Blue Jays return to action on Friday when they host the Texas Rangers.

Fastball:

Prince George-based Big Guy Lake River Kings placed second at a senior men’s fastball tournament in Cache Creek. The River Kings lost the final to Chase by a 7-2 score to end up with an overall 3-1 record.

Tennis:

NBA

There is a two-day break in the NBA Finals. Game 4 will be played Wednesday night in Milwaukee with the Phoenix Suns ahead of the Bucks 2-1.
