Downtown PG Graffiti free program back for another year

Business owners downtown are experiencing a spike in Graffiti once again.

Groups like Downtown PG, RCMP, and the City are relaunching the Graffiti Free Program to help cover up and remove any unsightly work.

Downtown PG Executive Director, Colleen Van Mook stated this type of vandalism is becoming very costly for business owners.

“It is just one more thing that adds to the list of concerns business owners have experienced in the last year and a half with COVID and all of the changes. You know, there is certainly an economic impact where it can cost money to deal with that.”

“It’s just a bit frustrating to see the graffiti and our business owners just want people to respect their property and we want downtown to look the best it can be.”

The program, which also includes the participating of Victory Paint and GroundWork PG is free of charge to all downtown property owners.

Anyone requesting Graffiti Free service downtown can dial 3-1-1.

Last June, staff with the POUNDS Project Society painted over graffiti and provided service to downtown businesses for a three-month period.
