Update: Severe thunderstorm watch for PG ended

Update 7:00 PM  Sunday, August 15th

The severe thunderstorm watch that was issued for Prince George has ended. In addition, the smoky skies bulletin for PG has also been rescinded.

Original story:

According to Environment Canada, Prince George is under a severe thunderstorm watch, and could potentially see strong winds and hail.

The alert said the chance of thunderstorms is still low, and that it mainly applies for east of PG and Quesnel.

“Depending on how much sunshine we can get, and daytime heating in the afternoon, we may see some showers and even a risk of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and into this evening,” said Meteorologist Jonathan Bau.

The PG area is still under a smoky skies bulletin, but Bau expects that to get rescinded sometime today.

“Models are indicating just a blip in the forecast for Wednesday afternoon with a chance of showers, but aside from that, for the next five days, we’re looking at generally sunny skies. And temperatures or highs just above seasonal.”
