The 25th Prince George Senior Lacrosse began with the Bandits posting a 14-4 victory over the Cowboy Ranch Stylers. Drew Doig led the way with five goals and three assists. League action resumes tonight (Thursday) at 8 with the Northland/Nissan Assault against the Quesnel Crossfire at the Coliseum.

The defending champion Westwood Pub Devils begin play next week in the five team league.

–Prince George Inner City boxer Kenny Lally won his first three round bout by unanimous decision over an opponent from the Bahamas at the Cheo Aponte Cup tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The 25-year-old Lally, a six-time national champion, advances to the quarter-finals in the 56-kilogram division.
He is back in the ring tonight against a fighter from Puerto Rico.

UPDATE—-Lally won his second bout today to improve his record to 2-0 and advance to the semi-finals Friday.

–Canada beat Sweden 5-3 in the quarter-finals today at the World Under-18 Hockey Championship in Switzerland. Jansen Harkins of the Prince George Cougars notched a goal and an assist to give him four points in five games.

Semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday with the medal games on Sunday.

–Prince George swimmers Hannah Esopenko and David Dunn of will compete for Team BC at the 2015 Western Canada Summer Games (August 13-16) in Fort McMurray. Esopenko is one of 12 girls chosen by Swim BC while Dunn is one of four in the Special Olympics category.
