PG Cougars

The Prince George Cougars play their final two preseason games this weekend.

Tonight, the Cats are in Maple Ridge to play the Vancouver Giants before wrapping things up Saturday in Victoria against the Royals.

PG Spruce Kings

The PG Spruce Kings open their four-game preseason schedule on Friday against the Centennials in Merritt.

The Spruce Kings are returning 16 players from last year’s team.

Canada West Soccer

The UNBC Timberwolves visit the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday and Saturday night in Canada West Soccer.

Both varsity teams are still looking for their first wins of the season.

MLB

Minnesota Twins 7 Toronto Blue Jays 2

Nick Gordon recorded 4 RBI’s for the 68-85 Twins. The Jays (85-68) are one game back of the New York Yankees for the final wild-card spot in the American League.

Both teams play again tonight in Minneapolis.

NFL

Carolina Panthers 24 Houston Texans 9

Canadian running back Chuba Hubbard led the Panthers in rushing with 52 yards after replacing the injured Christian McCaffery.

Panthers improve to 3-0.

Minor League Baseball

St. Paul Saints 7 Iowa Cubs 5

Jared Young of Prince George recorded two hits and drove in one RBI for the 51-71 Cubs.

Both teams play again tonight (Friday).

CFL

Week 8 of the CFL season wraps up with a double-header.

Montreal Alouettes (2-3) at Toronto Argonauts (3-3)
Saskatchewan Roughriders (4-2) at BC Lions (4-2)
