Regional District of Fraser-Fort George puts its support behind healthcare workers

Members of the Board of the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George voted unanimously on Thursday (Sept. 23) to support healthcare workers in BC and express the importance of vaccinations.

In a statement, the Board said throughout the pandemic healthcare workers are what we needed the most.

“They have worked long hours in the most stressful conditions and have continued to give their all to provide care, support, and compassion to the thousands and thousands of British Columbians who need hospital care.”

The statement also said that getting vaccinated would help relieve pressure on hospitals and that the statistics speak for themselves.

“As this pandemic rages into its fourth wave and case counts continue to rise in Northern BC, our hospitals are beyond capacity and healthcare workers are stretched to the limit. Hospitals and ICUs are full of patients battling the most severe impacts of COVID. The vast majority of these patients are not fully vaccinated,” said the Board.

“Getting vaccinated doesn’t just protect you. It protects our community and it helps ensure our healthcare facilities have the capacity to provide care to all who need it. It’s time for everyone to do their part and get vaccinated.”
