Prince George sees 2 sizeable fires downtown

Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of Dominion Street at 10:23 AM yesterday (Sunday).

When crews arrived one of the units was on fire, and a resident was rescued from the blaze.

The damage to the structure is estimated at around $100,000, the resident was transferred to the hospital, and no one else was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Fire crews also responded to a fire at 611 Brunswick Street, that fire was estimated to have caused $2 million in damages.

“Yesterday morning at 6:07 in the morning a call came in on the 600 block of Brunswick for a structure fire. We had four halls respond and the guys rolled up to a fully involved structure. They remained on scene until about 11:30 last night,” said Assistant Chief Kevin Woodhouse.

Woodhouse said the Dominion Street fire was a fantastic save in terms of fire management, especially considering they had their hands full on Brunswick Street.

“We were running backup apparatus all over the place, so we were dealing with our second line pumpers right across the board.”
