Prince George area’s new COVID-19 cases continue to decline

The BC Centre for Disease Control is reporting a decrease of new COVID-19 cases in the Prince George local health area (LHA) for the second week in a row.

Between December 5th and 11th, there were 53 new cases reported in the area.

The week before (November 28th to December 4th), there were 76 new cases.

The BCCDC’s latest data shows that 58% of people 70 and older in the Prince George LHA have received a booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, an 11% increase from a week ago. Kids in the area are continuing to receive their first dose as well, 15% of kids between the ages of 5 and 11 have received theirs, an increase of 10% from last week.

In addition, the latest data shows 88% of eligible people 12 and older in the Prince George LHA area have received a first dose of a vaccine, and 83% have received a second.
