Coldest Night of the Year walking towards $25,000 goal

This year’s Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser is well on their way to their fundraising goal.

“Because of COVID, we were unsure of how we were going to be able to facilitate the event this year,” said AWAC Executive Director Connie Abe.

“Last year we had to a virtual event, in previous years we were able to in-person events, which raised quite a bit of money.

The event will be in-person for on February 26th, which will start at 1145 2nd Avenue.

“We’ll start off there, we’ll end there, there’ll be food, prizes, and deserts for the walkers when they finish,” Abe explained.

The winter walk to raise funds for homeless supports is just shy of $20,000 (as of Saturday morning), and the goal is $25,000.

At last year’s virtual event, around $24,000 was raised, and the year before at an in-person event, around $28,000 was raised.

Abe says it’s never too late to join a team, create a team, or donate to an existing one. Donation at the Coldest Night of the Year website.
