Cougars select two forwards in U.S. Priority Draft

The Prince George Cougars picked up a pair of forwards in the 2022 WHL U.S. Priority Draft this morning. (Wednesday)

With the 16th overall pick in the draft, the Cats picked Jackson Crowder from the Dallas Starts Elite 14U AAA.

Crowder, a product of Allen, Texas, is listed at 5’11” and 150. No stats are available from his 2021-22 season. However, at the 2022 USA Hockey National Championship in Chicago, he led his team with seven points in four games.

With the 29th pick, they selected Christian Plaga from the La Jr. Kings 14U AAA.

Plaga, from Manhattan Beach, California, is listed at 5’9″, and 145 pounds. He was sixth in team scoring on the La Jr. Kings 14U with 20 goals and 36 points in 41 games.

Players drafted in the WHL U.S. Priority Draft come from the Western half of the United States.

The Cougars also hold the following picks in tomorrow’s WHL Prospects Draft:

  • 11th Round, 226th overall
  • 12th Round, 248th overall
  • 13th Round, 270th overall
  • 14th Round, 292nd overall
  • 15th Round, 314th overall
