Chili cook-off draws a crowd

The BC Gourmet Arts Festival is in full swing at the CN Centre this weekend.

One of the events featured today (Saturday) was a Chili Cook-off, featuring ten chilis from local cooks.

The winners of the event will be determined by the festival go-ers, who will vote on their favorites.

“They get a little trophy and bragging rights that they won, and hopefully they’ll come back next year and try to keep their title,” said Joanne Mikkelsen, Co-lead of the Chili Cook-off Committee.

“It won’t be decided today, we’ll have to count the ballots today and then early next week we’ll let all the teams know.”

The festival will continue tomorrow with a different competition, as local food trucks will be taking part in a taste competition from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..
