They split their season-opening weekend with the Tri-City Americans 1-1 and will have Ethan Samson, and Ty Young back from NHL training camps.

Four players in tonight’s game are ranked to be selected in the first round of the 2023 NHL draft, according to Craig Button’s newest list:

  • Riley Heidt – Prince George – 21st
  • Andrew Cristall – Kelowna – 22nd
  • Koehn Ziemmer – Prince George – 24th
  • Caden Price – Kelowna – 26th

Tonight’s game will also be a special night dedicated to Truth and Reconciliation.

BCHL:

The Spruce Kings will play their home opening game tonight against the Vernon Vipers at 7:00, wearing their special Truth and Reconciliation jerseys.

The Kings got off to a hot 2-0 start on the road with 3-0 and 3-2 wins.

Vernon is 0-2 so far, losing 3-0 and 4-1 to Salmon Arm.

CFL:

The slumping BC Lions will host the Ottawa Redblacks tonight in Vancouver at 7:30. The Lions have gone 1-3 since the season-ending injury to Nathan Rourke, sliding from a battle for the league title to barely holding on to second in the division.

Ottawa could be the team to rebound against, with a 3-10 record this season, the worst of any team in the CFL.
