The Prince George Spruce Kings stuck with it and got rewarded.
A pair of third period goals from Jack Stockfish and Linden Makow lifted the hosts to a 4-3 win over the Wenatchee Wild on Friday in front of a crowd of 708 people at the Kopar Memorial Arena.
The Spruce Kings got off to a slow start finding themselves down 2-0 in the first period.
Jonathan Horn lit the lamp twice for Wenatchee, solving stout Spruce Kings netminder Jordan Fairlie. However, at the 17:53 mark Ty Gagno broke the ice for PG as his power-play marker from Jake Schneider and Ben LeFranc found its way past Wenatchee netminder Owen Millward to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes.
For the second straight period, the Wild started fast as Cade Littler needed just 51 seconds to give the visitors their two-goal lead back.
Again, the Spruce Kings were unfazed as captain Colten Cameron potted his first of the season at even strength, trimming the score line to 3-2.
Despite allowing a pair, Fairlie continues to be a rock in the PG net sporting a record of 8-1-0 with 2.00 goals against average and a save percentage of .921.
PG outshot Wenatchee 26-25 and went 1-for-1 on the power-play, while Wenatchee was 1-for-2.
The Spruce Kings improve to 8-3-0-1 on the season, one point back of the West Kelowna Warriors for second in the Interior Conference. Wenatchee drops to 2-8-0-1.
Both teams play again tonight (Saturday) at 7pm from the Kopar Memorial Arena.
