WHL:

Seattle Thunderbirds  6  Prince George Cougars  3

The (10-1) Thunderbirds took control early by scoring twice in the first 71 seconds of the game in Kent, Washington.

Seattle enjoyed period leads of 3-1 and 4-1 and outshot P.G. 35-31.

Reid Schaefer led the Thunderbirds with three goals, including one into an empty net, to give him 13 on the season.

He is tied for the WHL lead in goals alongside Connor Bedard of the Regina Pats.

The Cougars got goals from Koehn Ziemmer, with his 11th of the season, Ethan Samson, on the power-play, and Caden Brown.

The (6-7) Cougars continue a 5-game road trip tonight at 7:00 when they play the (8-1-1) Winterhawks in Portland.

BCHL: 

The (9-3-0-1) Prince George Spruce Kings visit the (14-0) Penticton Vees Friday night at 7:00 and the (7-5-0-1) Salmon Arm Silverbacks Saturday night at 6:00.

The Spruce Kings are third in the nine-team BCHL Interior Division.

The Phillies tied the record for most home runs hit in a World Series game with five.

Philadelphia leads the World Series 2-1 and they will host Games 4 and 5 tonight and
Thursday (5:03 PT).

Canada West Sports:

The UNBC Timberwolves begin their Canada West basketball season this weekend at the Northern Sport Centre.

The Timberwolves host the Trinity Western Spartans Friday night at 5:00 and 7:00 and Saturday at 4:00 and 6:00.

BC Elite Hockey League: (BCEHL)

(U18)

The (5-2-1) U18 Cariboo Cougars, who are unbeaten in six, visit the (3-5-1-1) Vancouver North East Chiefs Saturday afternoon at 3:30 and Sunday morning at 10:45 in Burnaby.

(U18 female)

The (5-8-1) Northern Capitals visit the (10-4) Vancouver Island Seals in Chemainus Saturday afternoon at 3:00 and Sunday morning at 8:30.

The two teams played a triple-header last weekend in Prince George with the Seals winning two of the three games.

The (4-3) Toronto Raptors visit the (5-2) San Antonio Spurs tonight (5:00 PT).

Week nine of the NFL season starts Thursday with first at worst as the Philadelphia Eagles visit the Houston Texans.

CFL:

The CFL playoffs begin on Sunday.

In the West, the (12-6) second-place B.C. Lions will host the (12-6) Calgary Stampeders in the division semi-final (1:30 p.m.).

The winner will visit the (15-3) Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West final on November 13th.

In the East, the (9-9) second-place Montreal Alouettes will entertain the (8-10) Hamilton Tiger-Cats (10 a.m.) in the division semi with the winner to play at the (11-7) Toronto Argonauts in the East final.
