Four Prince George events to receive $54,000 from BC government

The provincial government announced funding for 100 events across the province this morning (Thursday), four of which are in Prince George.

The events are:

  • 2023 Coldsnap – $16,000
  • 2023 BC Gourmet Arts Festival – $14,400
  • 2023 Northern BC Indigenous Arts Festival – $14,400
  • 2023 World Junior/U23 Cross Country Skiing Trials – $10,000

These donations were made through the province’s Tourism Events Program (TEP).

“B.C.’s many sports competitions, arts festivals and events are vital to our tourism sector and a thriving economy,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport in a news release.

“This program allows organizers to raise awareness about their amazing events and inspires British Columbians and people from around the world to attend.”

The program was temporarily suspended through the first two years of the pandemic.

In April, the province announced TEP’s return, with nearly $5 million dollars to donate.
