Work on the Simon Fraser Bridge will resume in the spring.
According to the Ministry of Transportation, the southbound lanes have been closed since January 2022 to allow for the replacement of the bridge deck and the rehabilitation of the southbound structure.
The northbound bridge deck will have one lane each to accommodate north and southbound traffic.
In November, the estimated time of completion was doubled due to delivery timelines of deck panel components according to the Ministry of Transportation.
WorkSafe BC launched an investigation back in April after a worker was seriously injured on the bridge.
Despite the delay, they said the project budget will remain the same at $20.5 million.
18,000 vehicles cross the Simon Fraser Bridge a day. The project is expected to be complete by September.
