Jared Young, Canada eliminated from World Baseball Classic

PG’s Jared Young and Team Canada came up flat in their final round-robin game at the World Baseball Classic in Phoenix.

The Canadians dropped to 2-2 after a 10-3 loss to Mexico today (Wednesday).

Canada kept it close for the first five innings trailing 2-1 and 3-2 at various points.

The turning point came in the top of the 6th where Tampa Bay Rays star Randy Arozarena delivered a three-run double to stretch the Mexican advantage to 7-2.

Mexico scored two more in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Eduoard Julien blasted a solo home run for Canada in the bottom of the seventh to make it 9-3.

Former Toronto Blue Jays slugger Rowdy Telez belted a solo shot to pad the Mexico lead back to a converted touchdown in the top of the 8th.

Young went 0-4 at the plate. He also got the start at first base due to an injury to MLB all-star Freddie Freeman.

Mexico claims Pool C with a 3-1 record.
