The Dodgers erased a 7-3 deficit by scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth and the winning run in the bottom of the 10th.

Infielder Jared Young of P.G. is back this week with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs after a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs.

The 28-year-old Young batted .171 (6-for-35) in 13 big-league games for Chicago this season with one homer and five RBIs.

Golf:

Mike Legg of Prince George shot a 1-over-72 and is tied for 6th, three shots off the lead after the opening round of the BC Senior Men’s Golf Championship in Williams Lake.

James Pedersen of Quesnel and Dave Lauzon of 150 Mile House lead the Cariboo golfers, tied for 37th at 6-over-77.

Dana Gorbahn of Smithers and Will Gilbert of Prince George began with an 8-over-79, and are tied for 59th.

Andrew Pinette of Surrey tops the leaderboard at 2-under-69.

155 golfers are competing in the 54-hole tournament.

Hockey:

At age 38, Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins announced his retirement after 19 seasons in the NHL.

Bergeron racked up 1,040 points, including 427 goals, in 1,294 career regular-season games, all with the Bruins.

 

NFL:

According to media reports, the LA Chargers and quarterback Justin Herbert have agreed on a five-year, $262.5 million contract extension, which includes $133.7 million fully guaranteed.

The deal for the 25-year-old Herbert makes him the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history based on average annual value ($52.5 million).

 

CFL:

The (5-1) BC Lions visit the (0-7) Edmonton Elks Saturday (4:00 PT).

The Lions lead the West while the Elks have lost a record 20 consecutive home games, dating back to 2019.

PG Football:

The Prince George Kodiaks junior football team is gearing up to begin its 10-game BCFC regular season schedule.

The Kodiaks open Saturday night at 7:00 when they host the defending Canadian Bowl champions, the Okanagan Sun at Masich Place Stadium.
