City to be approached about potential yard waste curbside pickup program

The Regional District of Fraser Fort George will present Prince George, Mackenzie, and Valemount with information on a potential yard and garden waste pickup program.

According to the District, 6,000 tonnes of yard and garden waste are dropped off at landfills in these three communities.

The District Board reviewed costs and options for a program for each of the three municipalities and will share their findings and figures with each.

At their Thursday meeting, the board approved a $360,589 contract with Twin Rivers Development for construction on their George Street office’s parking lot.

They also approved giving $2.04 million to UHNBC for lab service upgrades, in addition to the $1.8 million given last year.
