MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays 6 Washington Nationals 3

The Jays still remain 2.5 games back of Houston and Seattle for the final wild-card spot in the American League.

The Astros and Mariners both won their games on Monday against Oakland and Boston to keep their advantage.

Toronto is back in action tonight against the Nationals.

PG Football:

Prince George Kodiaks 17 Vancouver Island Raiders 15

The Kodiaks (2-2) next game is September 9th in Langley against the Rams.

NFL:

Star Canadian QB Nathan Rourke has been waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Victoria product can now sign with any other NFL team to its active or practice roster.

Rourke had a stellar preseason, completing 23-of-35 pass attempts (66 percent) for 348 yards with one touchdown and zero interceptions. He also rushed 14 times for 39 yards and another score.

Soccer:

John Herdman is leaving the men’s national team in Canada for an MLS job.

Herdman will become the new manager for Toronto FC.

He led both the men’s and women’s national programs to berths at the World Cup,

Toronto FC is dead last in the MLS’s Eastern Conference with a record of 3-10-13.
